We hold our Monthly Meetings on the third Monday of the month in Pontylcun Community Centre. Doors open at 1pm

Refreshments are available and you will have the opportunity to chat to other members before a brief update of u3a business.

Our Speaker will be Jimmy Stokes who is a retired Assistant Headteacher who taught for nearly forty years. Since retiring he has written three novels. The latest novel is entitled Moving Mountains and begins with one of the darkest days in Welsh history-the Aberfan disaster of October 21st 1966 resulting in the deaths of 116 children and 28 adults. From the carnage of Pantglas School emerges Eleri Jones whose life will come to symbolise both the enduring scars of Aberfan and the resilience of a community. Qualifying as a doctor Eleri Jones work impacts geopolitics.

October 21st 2026 is the 60th anniversary of the disaster.
