We are a group of enthusiastic amateurs but sometimes lack the expertise needed to identify what we are seeing or hearing! For this reason, we occasionally join other bird groups on their trips which might be on a different day.
Recent trips have been to:
Fforest Farm in Radyr where we saw 23 different species.
Goldcliff near Newport. We saw skylark, kestrel, lapwing, shelduck, little egret, stonechat and meadow pipit among others.
Obviously, the type of birds we are likely to see varies depending on the location.
For each of our field trips, sturdy footwear is recommended and, if you have them, bring binoculars, a small bird book, a drink and a snack or sandwiches. The duration of each trip will depend on the weather and the bird life! If you need to be back by a specific time, please make that known before we start.
